DrillsBasic
Tie-up, recognize, reset
During a coach-led demonstration, name the starting position and the first change of control.
Also called: tie up · lockup · partner communication
Source foundation
The tie-up reference describes a neutral position and a contest for control.
Study drill
During a coach-led demonstration, name the starting position and the first change of control. Ask the coach to stop and explain the reset. If cleared to practice, use only the version and number of repetitions they assign.
This is an editorial observation exercise based on the source, not a drill claimed to have been published by that school.
Check your understanding
Can both partners describe the same starting and ending positions? Can they release promptly on the agreed cue?
Pitfall to discuss
Do not reward speed before both partners understand the exchange.
Training log prompt
Write one sentence each: what you were trying to understand, what the coach corrected, and what you will revisit next session. Let your coach set any physical repetitions.
